How-To Create LEGO Comics

Doctor Sinister is well known for his “Grunts” comic series. LAML interviewed him about the series back in Episode 25. Now, after a request from myself, Dr. S. has created a how-to video on how to create LEGO comic strips.

Hopefully you all enjoyed this as much as I did. Thanks Dr. S!

Throughout the tutorial, the program Adobe Photoshop was mentioned. Photoshop is a very powerful and expensive program, but there are free alternatives for anyone who would prefer to spend that money one LEGO. Gimp is a powerful editor that might take a little bit of time to learn while Paint.net is a lightweight alternative that is easy to use but limited. Both programs can edit layers.

  1. [...] Here is the piece on LAMLradio – the video is in two sections as it’s about 14 minutes long in total and YouTube only allows vids of up to 10:59 (officially 10 minutes but they give a bit of leeway). [...]

  2. Nice set of vids. It would also be great to have some tips from any Lego stop-motion video gurus.

Regarding post-production, another option is to use comic creation software. ComicLife (www.plasq.com) is quite a good one, but there are others as well. You have to pay for the software, but it makes post-production much simpler.

  3. Michael, I’ll ask a few of the gurus and see what I can get together.
